Summary of Business Meeting Conversation    

In spite of our total giving being under $10,000 this past year, we were able to meet all of our designated giving for the causes in our church giving plan, due to money left over from last year and our spending below budget for our local mutual aid and other needs. We agreed to follow the same budget plan for 2020 subject to modification in the fall if we see will not have enough to cover those amounts.

We also discussed the following:

--Should we adjust how often we meet (perhaps twice a month)?

--Should we become a cell group in another local church?

--Should we have a consistent meeting location, one without physical barriers?

Members expressed themselves about Family of Hope’s future (some since the meeting), with a majority preferring to continue regular services, with various suggestions for simplifying or changing things, such as:

• Meeting at 2-4, and having only a snack, provided by individual members by turn. 
• Meeting at the same handicap-accessible location each Sunday, preferably at VMRC, except for a possible once a month gathering at the Vlasits with a carry in meal.
• Having someone help with doing the monthly newsletter.
• Experimenting meeting at 3 pm and shortening our meeting time to 45 minutes for worship and sharing and 45 minutes for Bible study, with flexibility to extend either time whenever needed.
• Having an occasional study series based on a book in the Bible instead of studying the lectionary texts.
• Have members by turn share their faith stories, either as a part of the sharing time or the Bible Study.

• PRAY FOR PAUL SWARR who has been moved to Crestwood, Room 213, since his recent stroke.
• HARVEY YODER’s radiation treatments began January 6 and continue five days a week through February 19. Your prayers are appreciated.
• LEWIS AND MARY ELLEN OVERHOLT celebrated their 60th       wedding anniversary January 13. Congratulations!
• LET’S HAVE A DISCUSSION Sunday, March 1, on the book The Rock, The Road And The Rabbi that each of us has been given.
